Historic Oakland Train Station

The Oakland Train Station, now on the National Register, is among the nation's most distinguished, historic depots. This fully renovated 1884 Queen Anne-style station is also one of the oldest in the country. The station is open to the public and group tours are available.

The Garrett County Historical Society Museum
A repository of local artifacts and treasures, the Garrett County Historical Society Museum offers a glimpse into the daily lives of the early settlers and more recent residents of this mountainous area. The museum library boasts numerous local genealogical records and other historic documentation. Located along Second Street in Oakland, the museum is open to the public.

The National Heritage Museum
Located on the first floor of the Friend Family Association Library Headquarters building, the museum depicts a history of early life in the United States, the history of Western Maryland, and life of the early settlers in this country.

Come and visit the Library & Museum when you are in Friendsville, Maryland.
