Me thinks that the moment my legs begin
to move, my thoughts begin to flow.

Deep
Creek Lake is the perfect place to base explorations of nearly
90,000 acres of Public Lands. Hiking trails range in difficulty
from easy walks on well maintained trails, to more wilderness
trails that may feature steep climbs and rugged terrain. Your
best bet is to explore the trail description links and check
out trails you feel are in your difficulty range. You'll be
amazed how occupied and peaceful the kids are when out exploring
a trail. There's magic under every leaf....waiting to be discovered.
You
can also learn how to go safely hiking and discover new trails
by going on a guided hike. Groups
can hire a guide to lead them on everything from a gentle Swallow
Falls Nature walk to a challenging 3 hour round trip uphill
hike to the top of Big Savage Mountain which offers a glorious
view atop the summit ledges.

After
a day's walk everything has twice its usual value. ~George
Macauley Trevelyan
Climb
the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace
will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The
winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the
storms their energy, while cares will drop off like
autumn leaves. ~John Muir
